A Complete Internal and External Restoration Project | 1920s Heritage Project

This exclusive 1920s Art Deco Mansion was tastefully renovated in 2021 by local property developers 

Dart Decorators assisted the developers with aspects of this challenging restoration project both Internally and Externally 

Structurally it has hugely impressive internal steels, reinforcing the building's structural integrity 

With stunning views of the Jurassic Coast this tastefully restored 1920s colonial building ticks every box for the new owners, it has been given a contemporary feel with many of the original features restored to their former glory  

Full External Pre-Clean  

After the scaffold was completed, Dart Decorators External works included; a full jet wash of the approx. 600 sqm facades using our high-power jet-wash and a full fungicidal scrub and wash-down treatment, removing extremely severe algae and mould spores  

Internal Decorative Restoration Work

Dart Decorators undertook approx. 6 months of Internal restoration work. Many of the rooms had been closed for several years, which meant weeks of black mould treatment, Dart Dec stripped back years of wallpaper, unsurprisingly we uncovered the original walls and ceilings the worst rooms were covered in black mould and were treated accordingly. Many decorative covings and mouldings had collapsed with years of subsidence, gradually caving in or sinking an area of land movement. The Internal cracks were repaired with Toupret Fibracryl Flexible Repair Filler,  It's fibre enriched and made of mineral extracts and resin. This makes it very flexible and useful for filling cracks and gaps in areas where there's likely to be movement, such as joints in walls and ceilings 

Metal Restoration 

External pipework has been revived and prepared with wire wool brush and red oxide primer before being painted with the Sikkens Rubbol coating system, a highly durable finish for both wood and metal  

Wood Restoration  

Dart Decorators restored the Internal Doors (and woodwork) in the property (20+) which provided weeks of delicate repair work (after chemical stripping) to bring them back to fully functional condition, this included de-furring, fine-filling, Zinsser BIN re-knotting, primer and undercoat, finished with 2 x coats Dulux Trade Eggshell, a very labour intensive process

External Masonry Repairs 

3 full weeks of masonry repairs using Toupret Mur-Ex and Toupretlith-F Fillers to maintain the building's strength and weather resistance. The external facades have been finished externally with Dulux Maximum Exposure, Sikkens Rubbol Primer and Rubbol Satura by Dart Decorators

It is formulated for professional use to provide protection even in harsh and demanding environments. Max Exposure is tried and tested on lighthouses for its salt-resistant* qualities. The unique properties provide a tough and flexible paint film that is up to 5 times more flexible than conventional masonry paints, covering hairline cracks and preventing subsequent cracking or flaking
